NKU Students participate in Experimental Archeology Day!

On November 22nd, Dr. Zac Hruby, Dr. Nicole Roth, and Dr. Monica Wakefield hosted a day where NKU students could come and learn firsthand about archeology out in the field.
 
Events Included were:


Animal butchery, hosted by guest and professional butcher Graham Thompson. Students observed and learned different butchery techniques, both modern and with ancient stone tools.

 


















The effect of fire upon animal bones. Students observed and recorded fresh bones and the archeological evidence left by fire.

 









Knapping with Dr. Hruby. Students observed and participated in knapping lithics from local sources.
