Barriers and Boundaries talk by Dr. K. Powell on Sri Lanka, September 9, 3 pm

This presentation examines issues
of national identity, constitutional
law, and humanitarian aid policy in
relation to individual narratives of
displacement in Sri Lanka. Using
literary, legal, archival, and interview
documents, Powell examines the
ways identities are constructed in
displacement narratives, attending
specifically to the rhetorical
strategies employed as “barriers and
boundaries” intersect with individual
lives, highlighting intriguing
intersections between discourses of
power and discourses of identity.
