Eric Bates Awarded Doctorate

Congratulations to Dr. Thomas Eric Bates of Independence, KY who, just this Friday (March 28), successfully defended his dissertation and is being awarded the Ph.D. from Cincinnati's Union Institute and University. Eric graduated from NKU in 2003 with both the B.A. and B.S. degrees and with majors in anthropology, geography, and speech and a minor in Native American studies. He earned his M.A. degree with a Native American focus from NKU in 2006. His doctoral research was with the Blackfeet Indians of Montana, focusing on Pentecostalism and Native American identity. In addition to being an NKU alumnus, Eric teaches part-time for NKU Anthropology.
